About this massage
Thai Massage is about complex work with the body. It uses elements of acupressure and yoga. That is why it is sometimes called a “yoga massage”. The massage is very intense, yet it is not exhaustive for the masseur or the client. On the contrary, it is rather a form of meditation. Attentive concentration and power rather sensed than visible, that is Nuad Boran (meaning “ancient massage” in Thai).
How this massage is performed
The massage begins with a short meditative prayer, so that mind can be fully focused on the massage and maintain vigilant state of meditation during work. The prayer is a request for the patient to be freed from all pain and illnesses. With the first touches the state of mind is passed from the masseur to the client, that’s why calming of mind and concentration is so important. The massage itself starts in a relaxed position on the back with work on the front of the body. With rhythmic swinging movement, the masseur processes the feet and continues to relax energy lines. Pressure points can be considered windows opening into the body. Through them, energy is exchanged between the human body and its surroundings, establishing the balance of man and the universe. Disturbances in energy flow can lead to diseases. Working on energy lanes along with pressure point massage removes blockages and restores the return of health and well-being. During the massage, a whole body is used but the touches of feet or elbows are always targeted and no forced manipulation is used.
What this massage is good for
Thai massage relaxes painful muscles and stiff joints, increases body flexibility and overall fitness. It also has a positive effect on back pain and headache. It helps with exhaustion, stress and psychosomatic problems. Thai massage is not suitable for fresh post-traumatic conditions, patients with osteoporosis and varicose veins. Caution and certain constraints are necessary in case of circulatory diseases and during pregnancy.
